    & Ukulele Group

  • About Us

Why not join us and improve your guitar and ukulele skills?

Highly Strung are a small group of Classical Guitar and Ukulele enthusiasts. We meet regularly to practice playing our favourite guitar pieces and ukulele songs. We welcome everybody - our ethos is to have fun and learn new music. Want to play a favourite ukulele song? Share it with the group. Got some ideas for your own music? Bring it along. Interested in improving your sight reading of music or the guitar? Come and practice with us. Have a particular skill? Come and show off! We look forward to seeing you.

    When do you get together?

Highly Strung meet at Burton Village Hall, Highburton, Huddersfield (click here for details) every Tuesday evening between 7pm and 9pm.

We generally use the first hour for Guitar (7-8pm) and 1 hour for Ukulele (8-9pm), although this can change depending on what's happening!

    Will it cost me anything?

Most alternate Tuesdays we use the services of a local musician to help us. We have to pay them, and we have to pay for the hire of the hall - so we only ask for a nominal fee of a few pounds each week to cover our costs.

If it's your first time at the group you're FREE!

What kind of music do you play?

    Anything. Bring along your ideas.

    Do you do performances?

Some of the Highly Strung regulars take part in other Ukulele and Guitar Ensembles which do performances, although our focus on Tuesday evenings at the Village Hall is fun and practice. We're always interested in new opportunities - why not get in touch?
